1960 Rover P4 100
This remarkably original Rover P4 has remained with just one West Yorkshire owner from 1960 to 2009. This desirable, overdrive model P4 has covered less than 83,000 miles from new with documentation dating back to 1970 with the car. Our Rover still retains the original registration mark 887 WX and comes with a history file that includes the original handbook and workshop manual.
The Rover P4 offers fine engineering and on the road it does impress. The six cylinder engine starts first turn and is clearly a strong, healthy engine with no rattles or smoking. Performance is excellent and the Rover pulls strongly with slick gear changes. The Rover drives beautifully in top gear and comes smoothly into overdrive making a very relaxing drive. Within the past 1000 miles the Rover has benefited from new brake discs, pads, rear brake shoes, master cylinder, front flexi hoses, re-conditioned servo and calipers. The exhaust system and manifold have also been replaced as have rear hub oil seals and the tyres.
The body is straight with very original paintwork. The older paintwork does have defects such as some minor flaking on wing tops but importantly there are no serious corrosion issues with the car. We are happy to carry out some paintwork but as this is such an original, time warp we are leaving any improvement decisions down to the next owner. The chrome work is bright and looks original. The interior is completely original and undamaged. Carpets have worn well and present in good condition. The leather has a lovely aged feel and the headlining and woodwork are all in good, presentable order. The full original tool kit is in place under the dash and the boot still holds all correct and original trim.
With one owner for 49 years, low mileage and such a high level of originality, this Rover is a very good buy. With a full original tool kit and original number, this genuine P4 is ideal for regular use or light paint improvements prior to showing.
