The popularity of MG sports cars in the United States saved the marque by generating export sales in quantity and ensuring MG's allocation of scarce physical, financial and material resources in postwar England. Built on a shortened chassis developed for the Y-series sedans that replaced the seriously flexible prewar T-series chassis of the TC, the TD and its successor the TF exploited reliability and a surprisingly tuneable XPAG 4-cylinder engine to build loyalty and recognition that have continued to epitomize MG sports cars to subsequent generations. Primrose is one of the TF's most popular and typical colors, as this attractively restored 1954 TF so eloquently demonstrates. It is upholstered in green with black carpets and comes with its top, tonneau cover and side curtains for adaptable weather protection. Chrome wire wheels, a welcomed change from the TD's standard steel wheels, and fender mirrors set off the exterior. The engine compartment is detailed and attractive. It runs and drives well, a handsome and appealing car for the coming season where its responsive handling and snappy appearance will endear it to the driver, fortunate passenger and onlookers.
